Hutch
The SPACE between things is very important to me. It allows my BRAIN a place to go creatively.
The landscape of the Mojave provides breathtaking examples of the space between things. Years of living in this desert, observing and experiencing the effects of wind and sun, play a primary role in my choice of sculpting materials. I like what happens to steel, stone and glass after years of the elements having their way. It’s as if the materials are living – they grow rust with exposure to air and water and they get smoothed from the pound of the wind driven sand. The sun eats wood, rubber and paint, the materials that remain are steel, stone and sand.
